As an action learning coach in this situation, I would say, “I’m hearing set members ask extraordinarily curious questions. What’s the impact on the group? What’s the value of asking such types of questions? To what extent are these extraordinarily curious questions helping/hurting the problem presenter move forward on his/her problem? How should we proceed moving forward?

It would depend on the impact to the group. You could ask the team what the impact is to the team when one member asks disproportionate amount of questions. If it helps the team in a positive way and the person leads by example you could call this out by sharing your observation and ask the team what the impact is to the team. Also it would be good to know whether this is related to the leadership skill from this person. E.g. curiosity. In the reflection at the end it would be good to share the observation that this person did a great job in expressing curiosity but that a pitfall could be overruling the rest of the team and impacting the team by limiting the diverse questions from the team.

One option for addressing the curious questions could be to use your learning question. For example, during your subsequent check-in you could ask, “How focused are our questions on today’s challenge?”

I would intervene by asking the group to reflect on the nature of their questions. Using the “What, So What, Now What” approach, I might ask:
    ● On a scale of 1-5, how well are we building on each other’s questions?
    ● What is the impact when we don’t build off each other’s questions?
    ● What would you like to do now?
If the participants continue to ask extraordinarily curious questions, I might ask the following questions:
    • Why is it important that we ask these curious questions?
    • What might be a common theme that underlies these questions?
    • Ask the problem presenter, what questions would be most helpful to you?
These questions aim to foster deeper engagement and collaborative inquiry within the group.

Hello team, what is it that our group is trying to clarify?
PP, what is it that you would like to clarify further?
Please continue working with the team, who has further questions?

I’ll ask team as a coach
” Team , How the team thinking about the question that the team use in this session?”
“What’s the team learn from the setting of the questions?”

If no one mention about extraordinarily curious questions I’,ll ask the team more questions.
“If the team member ask extraordinarily curious questions, How’s the team think that will impact to the team?
“How the team will handle this objection to help the team learn more?

I woul lean in as a coach and say, let’s pause for a moment and reflect, what are you noticing about the quality of the last few questions? Wait for some responses, then follow up, What is the impact of phrasing questions in a curious way? Then follow up, so how shall we continue?
