As an action learning coach, how would you handle the following situation: The team took a break less than 15 minutes ago, since returning the energy in the group is very low.

I propose a short energy task. The important is the task doesn’t connect with the problem which we are working now. My favourite the energy task concerns on teambulding – for example I ask the team to find five common things and draw logo of the team.

I would pose the following questions depending on the responses:
    – There seems to be some low energy in the group, what do you think is causing this?
    – How are people feeling?
    – What do you want to do about this?

I will intervene by asking them to individually rate the energy level of the class from 1-10. and continue by asking What will happen to the team if we continue with this low-energy session. Lastly asking How should we get the energy level back up.

I will intervene by asking ” Team, how do you rate our energy level now on the scale of 1 to 10? ” What will happen if we keep this level?’ “Do you wish to improve this level?” “what should we do about it to improve ?’ ” what is the benefits if we improve it?’

If I notice this happen, I would intervene them by asking these
    questions
“Team how are we doing now?”
    “How is our energy?”
“How this will impact the team?”
“What will we going to do to make it better?”

    I would intervene and ask:

“Team, what do you notice about the level of energy in the team?”
(they may respond: “It’s quite low / Not very high”)
“How would this impact the mood of the team if it continues?”

“What would you like to do to bring the energy level up?”
Or (“Would changing our posture help?”)

I would ask the following questions: “How would you rate the energy of the session? (on a scale of 1 to 10; 1 – poor, 10 – excellent)”. If the team rates a low score average. I will ask What will happen to the team if we continue? And the final question is “What can we do to improve?”

I indeed had this exact problem in one of my AL sessions. I made an intervention: “How do you think is the energy within the group?” “Why is this important?” “How do we want to deal with this?” “How would you like it to happen in this group?”

I will ask the team on a scale of 1-10 how is your energy level. If these are low grades, I will ask the team if they want to change this. If so, I will bring in an energizer that ensures team building and is separate from the problem. For example: go through an A4 paper with the whole team within 5 minutes.

I would intervene and ask. I notice that the energy is a bit low in the room right now. Does anyone else notice this? What would be the impact of our session if we continue with this level of energy? What do you suggest we do to boost our energy level? If no one has suggestions, I would perhaps suggest some team stretching exercises and/or a little energy snack without sugar/caffeine. I would set expectations for how much time we have going forward before the next break or the finality of the session to add more certainty and clarity and focus to the process.

I would need to check with the group’s energy level by asking the question group: “Hi Team, how do you rate your energy now, on a scale of 1-10, if 10 is very high and 10 is very low?” Normally the group will answer with low score, I would continue need to ask to help the group realize how low energy level will affect the group, and the group What could be done to change this? Questions might be: “What will affect the team performance if such a low energy level?”, “How can we increase energy level?” your intake from a low score (example 3) to a high score (eg 9.10). Then I stepped out and let the group continue with my solution

Then I lean out and let the group continue with their solution.

If i notice that the energy in the group is low, I would appoint that I notice de difference in energy before the break and after the break. Then ask the group if this is recognizable. Finally, I would ask the group what it takes to resume session with more energy.

As an Action Learning Coach, before continuing the session, I would ask a question: “How is your energy level right now on the scale of 1 to 10, with 1 is very low and 10 is very high?” to check their readiness. Then I would ask the team: “Which level of energy is it suitable for team to continue the session effectively?” to help all team members realize an expected energy level. The last but not least, I would ask: “What would we like to do achieve the expected energy level?”, this question gave team members the authority to choose what to do next in order to boost their energy level.

I would help the group to become aware of the apparently low energy they are showing after being back from break. I would also help them identify what they could do, by asking the following questions: “Why are we low in energy?”; “What would enable us to be more energized?

    I would intervene:
    1. Team, have you noticed how the energy of the team right now is?
    2. What will be the impact to our session if the energy remains like this?
    3. What would you suggest how we boost up our energy?…Let the team decide, do something ie.: small exercise or grab coffee, then continue the session.

    Intervene with:
    – How are we doing as a group?
    – What’s the energy level in our group like right now?
(Assuming some people say the energy is low/could be higher)
    – Why is it important for us to maintain a good level of energy in our group?
    – What would the team like to do to raise the energy?
    – Okay, who has the next question?
