The WIAL Community of Practice is very excited to host Dr. Yury Boshyk to discuss “How Action Learning Can Help Address the Critical Issues of Our Time.” Dr. Boshyk is CEO of Global Executive Learning (GEL). Since 1990, he and his colleagues are the founders and world leaders of Business Driven Action Learning (BDAL) helping companies perform and transform their business and leadership in almost every region of the world and in a multitude of industries. Company engagements have included, among others, ABB, Baxter, BHP, Boeing, the Brookings Institution, Danone, DPDHL, Finnair, GE, Fuji Seal, Johnson & Johnson, Liberty Insurance, L’Oreal, Pirelli, Rio Tinto, SABMiller, Schneider Electric, Seco Tools (Sandvik), Siemens, Standard Bank, Tata, UNDP, UPS, Volvo, Vossloh Cogifer, and Wipro. GEL collaborates with many leading Subject Matter Experts, consultancies, business schools and universities. Yury Boshyk also chairs and founded the annual Global Forum on Strategic Transformations, Leadership and Learning, a “by-invitation-only” and not-for-profit community of practice founded in 1996. His advisory and volunteer activity includes membership on the Harvard Business Review (Advisory Council – an opt-in research community of business professionals); Executive Development Associates (EDA); Executive Committee member, International Foundation for Action Learning (IFAL)-UK; and the Advisory Board for the journal Action Learning: Research and Practice. Formerly, Professor of Strategy and International Environment of Business at IMD (International Institute for Management Development), Switzerland; the Theseus International Management Institute (now EDHEC), Professor of Strategy, and Director of Executive Education), France; the University of Toronto and Harvard University. Yury Boshyk’s articles have appeared in The Financial Times (London), the IMD and World Economic Forum’s World Competitiveness Reports, most recently in the Centre for Creative Leadership’s book, Experience Driven Leader Development. Among his books, are Business Driven Action Learning: Global Best Practices, and topics on leadership and organizational development worldwide, and other subjects of political and social interest. Yury Boshyk completed his doctorate at the University of Oxford, his Master’s degree at the London School of Economics, and his B.A. at the University of Toronto. He was born in Canada and lived, studied and worked in Europe for over 30 years. He now lives in Ottawa, Canada with his family, working internationally.
