As an Action Learning coach, how would you manage a situation whereby during the session, the Problem Presenter, the one with the highest authority within the team continuously prompts other team members to ask questions because he is impatient?
I would manage the situation by telling the group that I’ve observed that someone from the group would continuously prompt or call others to ask questions. I would ask them if they noticed this behavior as well. If they don’t agree and say they didn’t notice this behavior then I would let them continue. However, if they agree and say they notice the behavior, I would ask them how they feel being prompted to ask questions and will then proceed to ask how this behavior would impact team’s effectiveness or simply a team member’s ability to take initiative. I would then ask the team how they would like to proceed. Hopefully this will set the norm on asking questions.
