Scenario: Great example(2026)

As an action learning coach, how would you handle the following situation:

You have a great example of a single participant’s leadership skill and simpler examples for the other participants. As you ask the team to give examples they have examples for everyone. You opt not to share the simpler examples. How do you handle the great example?

  1. if I felt that the example could deepen the group’s learning process, I would not introduce it myself in a way that puts that person in the spotlight. Instead, I would gently ask for their permission in front of the group: “You mentioned earlier a situation that could be very valuable for the group. Would you be comfortable if we came back to it?” I would only proceed if the person said yes.
