Scenario: Multiple Variables
As an Action Learning Coach how would you handle the following situation:
The team is attempting to analyze the problem situation in a search to identify the one key variable that they can influence or change to create movement in the direction of their established goal or end result. They are debating the relevance of only a few factors and seem to be ignoring the probability that the problem situation was caused or is perpetuated by multiple factors.

As the coach, I might ask “How are we doing at being open to all possibilities?”

From 1 to 10, how are we exploring all perspectives about this problem?
Why is it important?
How can we do it ?
Or, I would ask if we have consensus about wich part of the problem we are focusing

As Jayne and Marina have said –
How are we doing exploring all aspects of this problem?
Why is it important that we explore all elements of the problem?
How can we be sure we explore all the factors that are impact us?
Happy Coaching

I love this question and how it challenges the team to open up to a broader way of seeing.

“我们是否达成了一致?YES or NO?”
“我们有什么方法确保在探索这个问题的时候更加全面?”
“我们有什么方法能确定我们探索因素都影响我们?”

As the coach, I might ask following questions:
“Imagin you achive the goal ,what will you act at that moment ?
Who will see the results? What’s the feedaback?
How about other possibilities? can we think about more?

As the coach, I would intervene to ask:
“Let’s do a process check at this stage. How do we feel we are doing as a team?”
To what extent do we feel we are exploring all elements of the problem?

As an Action Learning Coach, I would intervene with the following type of questions:
– Are we discussing all factors?
– Are we focusing on all causes to the problem?
– As we identify variables that creates movement to our established goal, are we reflecting on all factors?
(Okay, who has the next question?)

S: Team…what do you think about the broad range of considering: 1 we were specific to one factor and 10 we are looking around to cover all aspects?
I: What is the impact?
D: What will team do?

I would ask: What we are doing well as a team? and… What we could do better?
