There are a few steps in action learning. If we are in the understanding stage of the problem, as an action learning coach, I should make an intervention with the participant who asked this question and say, for example: “We are in the stage of understanding the problem, how do you think this question can help the narrator and the group to better understand the problem reported by the narrator? ” or “On a scale of 1 to 10 how much do you think this question can help the group identify what the real problem we are trying to help the narrator solve?” or “How are we exploring the problem?”. Depending on the participants’ feedback I can then add: “What can we do better in this stage of understanding the problem?” If we are in the solution search stage, I would ask the group, for example: “Group, we are in the SOLUTION SEARCH stage for the problem, on a scale of 1 to 10 how much do you think this question can help the problem presenter reflect on possible actions he will take as a result of this meeting? ” After the group answers the question, if applicable, depending on the feedback the group gave about the question I asked, I might add: “How do you (for the participant who asked the question) can change this question that brings the presenter of the problem to reflect deeply on actions that can help you get your problem moving? ”

It should be added here that I can ask the questions about the steps we are in and how we are allied the steps and the group and the participant who asked the question understand that the question was, for example, question of understanding the problem and then I as Action Learning Coach I understand that I have to let the group flow because the group decides. Believing in the group is a very important skill that the Action Learning Coach must develop and practice at all times.

Well, our purpose here is to help PP to figure out the real problem. So what would you say your question in other different way?
