  I will intervene and explain to them that this is (most likely) a Single Problem Action Learning (better known as SPAL) situation wherein the organization has already determined and prioritized the necessary problems that need solutions/actions. Though grateful for their interest in wanting to tackle all the problems, I will explain to them that the organization has assigned one priority problem for every team to solely handle.

  As an Action Learning Coach, I would ask the organization’s sponsors to prioritized the most urgent and important problems to be worked on each single session, besides that, I’d ask to chose which problem to be assumed by which team. An sponsor’s representative, or the sponsor itself, should participate to the each of the single sessions and bring back the take aways (or actions) as result of the meeting.

  Having it said, I will keep the principle that the same problem can’t be worked on by the different teams, otherwise, it will demotivate the participants.

  – What if we could manage our problem priorities?
  – How will the team do so that we can better manage the priorities of the problem?
