Scenario: Promises

As an action learning coach, how would you handle the following situation: At the start of a check in you promise the team member that had just started to ask a question that you will return to them for the first question when you are done.

    When I’m done I will tweak the script: “I believe had the first question. Would you like to ask your question now?” If they will not go ahead with the question, I will then revert to the script: “Now who has the first question?”

    I personally would carry on with the check in as planned and once it’s done I would give him/her the floor asking if the question that s/he had is still relevant, if it is I’ll keep my word and start again from that point! 🙂

    After I’m done in process on script, I would to like to ark team, who want to ask the first question?

    Instead of saying “when I’m done” I’d acknowledge them and inform that I will be sure to come back to them. And the I’d make sure to give them an opportunity to speak as soon as possible.
