Scenario: Relocating

As an action learning coach, how would you handle the following situation:
The team decides it is too beautiful inside to stay indoors and opts to move outside to a picnic table.

  1. As the Action Learning Coach, I would first ask the team with a show of hands if everyone is in agreement. After I see everyone’s hands up, I would first ask each member of the team how the outdoor atmosphere would benefit the team. I would then proceed with another question on what would be the impact on the effectiveness of the meeting. Eventually I would get them to reflect on the team’s input and they make their final decision.

  2. I will ask each member to respond on relocation decision. If all agree then I ask what would be the impact on action learning process. Will relocation prove to be distracting for the team.

  3. I would as the team if its everyone’s decision? Will follow up with another question – would this relocation help the team?

  4. In this situation I would ask the team:
    -When we propose to move outside, what assumption, worries or expectations do we have?
    -What impact will it have if we move outside now?
    – What shall we do to support the PP more efficiently?
    -What’s your key learning from this discussion?

  5. As an Action Learning Coach, I’ll address the issue as follow.

    – I observed we’re discussing to relocate the meeting venue.
    – What’s the impact to the team efficiency if we move outside to a picnic table?
    – How can we make the decision to enhance the team efficiency?

  6. S a coach : I’ll inform and asking the consensus from the team as below
    Team : I observed that we’re discuss to on action learning process inside or outside to the picnic table?
    What’s impact if we relocating between the process?
    What do we decide to do on this situation?
