There are learning opportunities (e.g. 1: – there is no learning without action and; 2: – the team will decide the next steps they are undertaking individually as a result of the session) for the team.
As a coach, i will intervene by asking: – “Team, how are we doing with the actions to be implemented?”
After answers are heard, I will follow-on by asking: – “Why is it important that we take responsibility over actions defined?”
After answers are heard, I will follow-on by asking: – “What can we do better or differently to make things happen within the team?”

PP, how can the team help you with implementing the actions? (PP replies..)

As an action learning coach I will ask the team how the team thinks about implementing the actions of this problem. I wil ask them when the problem presenter can start with the actions, how the problem presenter can inform the rest of the team about the actions and what steps he must take. Also I will also ask the team who can help the problem presenter with implementing these actions.

It’s great opportunity for the team, how they can help each other and take shared responsibility for results. I would ask the team, like “Team, what do think abut request?”
In case we have no more time for longer discussion I would ask “Team, we are just overtime. We have X min. to conclude person X problem. How can you respond to request in that time?”

It sounds as if the presenter is being direct and simply asks for help. In this situation I would wait how it evolves. I would focus on those asked for help and make sure they have enough space to agree, express their will with regards to whether they can / or can not help. Possible question: “here you were asked for help, it was not necessary plan that you could have expected, how do you feel about it?”

What is the impact if we can’t conduct align 2 ground rules?
How do the team decide on the situation as PP would like to get help about implementation?

I will check how much time is left for the team to work together in the Action part before moving on to the next part.
1. If the remaining time for the Action part is 5 minutes, I will intervene and remind: “The team has 5 minutes left to work together before Coach moves on to Reflection on Learning part”. Afterwards, I ask PP questions to help team clarify:
– How do PP want the team to help him take specific actions?
– What is PP looking for here?
2. If there is still lots of time left for the Action part, I ask PP to help team clarify:
– How do PP want the team to help him implement specific actions?
– What is PP looking for here?
