Something I might try is conducting a final check-in before the conclusion and ask the team what they are doing well and what they could do better. Based on their answer to the question, “What could you be doing better?” I would pose a learning question that addressed the ambiguity of their next steps. Without knowing their response to the question, “What could you be doing better,” I might ask them a series of questions like, “How well-defined are your next steps? Why is it important to have well-defined next steps? How will the group work to further define next steps after this session or in a subsequent session?”

As the solution have identified but not yet well defined, I would add a learning opportunity before the last intervention as it is good to have a reflection and preparation for the next session. I might ask something like: “What missing for the team to have well defined the solution?” “What would be helpful to work out well defined solution?” “What is the impact if we do or don’t stop well defined the solution?”.

My questions to the team would be
1. If the said solution was to be actioned by someone who is not here in the room, what would aid them in successfully implementing our solution?
2. What steps can the team take now to make the solution easily implementable by anyone outside of this group?

Since we still have time left does the team want to reflect on all the perspective and dimensions of solution explored. Are there any unexplored area which might result in more learning.

I would ask the team if they would want to explore further and refine the issue in hand since they have more time to spare.
If its a team consensus, I would open up the session for further exploration.

I will ask “What the team believes they have done well?”
What are some areas that they think they can do differently or better?
And based on the response, I would ask the team “what they would like to do about the things that they feel they can do better?, And, if the team wants to pursue, I will ask who has the next question?

I wouldn’t give any suggestion. Instead, I would let the group decide how to use the rest of time. I would say, “What do you think the progress we have made on the discussion so far? What have we done to get the solution earlier than what we expect?” “In the process, what have we done well? And what can we do better?” “So, we still have some time left. What are we going to do now?”
