As an action learning coach, how would you handle the following situation: The team starts brainstorming some great solutions; stopping short of actually developing a fully and clearly implementable plan.

I would intervene by asking if the team has already agreed on the problem and that if it is the real root-cause problem. I will likewise challenge the team and ask what will happen if they continue brainstorming without identifying the real problem.

Afterwards, I will ask them to write down what they think the problem is and ask again if they have an agreement on the problem. If they have agreed on the problem, I will ask them what is the next step? Who has the next question?

I will respect all the action plans made by PP.
Because I think that the process of narrating the problem and being willing to discuss it with the team is one of the actions to solve the problem, and the action plan must be implemented before subsequent verification can be carried out to see if this action is effective and whether it is necessary or not. Re-adjustment, this is the next action learning conference.

I will ask members to reflect on why brianstorm is needed on the spot, and ask if it helps to formulate an action plan.
If the team is helpful: Respect the team’s decision and ensure that there is enough time for the follow-up reflection process.
If opinions differ: Ask how the team can help PP develop an action plan.

I would mention to the team that through the brainstorming of the group it appears that there are a great many solutions for the problem. Then ask the team if they feel they have solved the problem. Then ask the team what support they feel they need to move this to action. After their answer, ask the team ‘who has the first question to move the team to action/planning. ‘The leading questions will get them to a point of discovery that they have great ideas but no action plan to implement any of their thoughts.
