I would check first what does this situation do to me, how do I feel being in this. After this I would try to observe if this brings any disruption in the team. So first attention to myself, attention to the group and if I notice any discomfort further I would say: ” I can see you are standing, is it ok if you share with us what is behind?”

I will take the time to observe every member of the team.
If everyone feels okay, I will continue to observe and AL will continue to happen.
If the situation puts pressure on the members, I will intervene. ” hello A, I see you standing, what message do you want to convey?”

I will say, “If you can think better when you stand or need a stretch, it is okay to do so as long as you remain engaged as ABC is doing” and continue with the AL session

As an Action Learning Coach, I will first observe how the rest of the team members respond to this person standing up. If they are comfortable with this, I will not intervene.

If any of the team members seem troubled by it, I will ask, “Since we have been going on for a while, feel free to stand or stretch to stay engaged?”.

At first I will observe if it disturbs other members. Later, I will ask the team “Team, I noticed some have stood up and yet still engaged in our discussion. Have you noticed?”
    – Person A – what made you stand up?” “I’d like to check with the team – are you OK & comfortable with this behavior?” “What kind of impact does this have to the other members?” “How do you want to proceed as a team agreement?” “OK. Who has the next question?”

The member standing up yet continuing to stay engaged with the problem solving does not call for me to intervene. However, when I do notice that the other members look or feel uncomfortable with or bothered by this, I will intervene by asking how the situation (a member standing up while the rest of them are seated) impacts their Action Learning process and how they decide to proceed.
